Newcomer Youth Center

The Newcomer Youth Centre (NYC) is a space for you to get connected with services, resources and friends. A place where you can hang out, express yourself, and talk to youth workers who understand where you are coming from. We offer programs, workshops and support for all newcomer youth between the ages of 14-24.

Monday 4-6pm
  • English Conversation Circle - a time to have fun and practice English. This Youth ECC is at the North York Central Library.
Wednesday 4-6pm

Thursday 4-6pm
  • English Conversation Circle - a time to have fun and practice English. This Youth ECC is at the Sanderson Library.
Tuesday 4 - 6pm

 
  • Homework help - Qualified tutors will assist with all subjects, especially for ESL students. Tutoring will be held at the Parkdale library in the Program room.

 
Monday to Thursday (during the school year)

 
  • Get help making a great resume and we'll give you tips for a successful job search.
  • Come in for settlement counselling, housing help, education information, assistance with immigration, inter-generational conflict support and more...
  • Be trained as a cross-cultural peer mediator.
  • Join a core group of youth that are trained as a violence prevention team.
  • Ask about how you can volunteer.
  • Start a group or club of your own.

 
Wednesday 3:30 to 5pm

 
    Refugee and Newcomer Girls' Group:

  • Beading Circle gets together to make craft and jewelleries. Materials are provided. It starts on February, 2006, but you are always welcom to join any time.
  • Younge Women Empowerment/Leadership Programs and Healthy Eating & Positive Self-image Workshop are comming.

We organize information workshops, dances, DJ nights, special events, drumming workshops, summer programs, training opportunities and more so come by and find out what we are all about!!!!!
